Stadler Tyne & Wear Metro
The Metro Futures project saw Octo Design collaborate with Stadler and Nose Design Experience, Stadler’s core industrial design partner. Octo focused on the interior design of the new metro carriages, including areas such as seating, hand rails and the provision of mobile charging points.

Tracerco PED2
Octo were engaged in the design development process of the Tracerco™ PED2, from concept creation to manufacturing support, creating a range of rugged, lightweight and easy-to-use personal electronic dosimeters.
The PED2-IS and PED2-IS+ devices are intrinsically safe and ATEX certified, enabling the units to safely measure radiation exposure in potentially explosive environments.
PED2 is suitable for a range of applications such as emergency responders, security services, offshore and onshore oil and gas, industrial radiography, border control and military, nuclear and decommissioning, medical, life sciences and mining.

Kromek Biological Threat Detection System
Developed by Kromek for DARPA, it is an all in one, always on monitoring system that enables the early identification of all airborne viruses including COVID-19, detecting trace levels of airborne threats, days earlier than is currently possible. Samples are tested from the air and detect illness before signs and symptoms begin to show in the infected person, thereby reducing the exposure to the disease by others.
The solution is designed to be deployed in high footfall locations, such as airports, hospitals, retail outlets and entertainment venues.
Rigel PAT Tester
The Rigel Medical - Unipulse Defibrillator Analyser, is a PAT tester used for testing complex medical equipment. It forms part of an ambitious development for the Seaward Group, aiming to enable multiple products to be manufactured from an optimised tooling suite in order to minimise capital costs.
The range of products greatly improves durability and quality perception, enhancing the ability of Seaward Group products to compete with larger corporate rivals.
International sales success for its Rigel Medical biomedical test equipment has secured the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for the Seaward Group.
Thorn IQ Wave
A family of recessed, suspended and surface-mounted LED luminaires, delivering both direct and indirect light distribution. This ensures a homogeneous comfortable lit appearance with no LED hot spots and minimal light loss for high efficiency.
IQ Wave illuminates the task, space and face with uniform lighting to create a comfortable, communicative working environment.
Draeger Research & Development
This research output is a concept development exploring the potential of experimental air storage technology. Demonstrated at the FDIC exhibition in 2012, the product received significant market interest and created patentable IP.

Curar Sonivet
‘Sonivet’ is a LIPUS (Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound) device used to accelerate and enhance the healing of fractures and ligament injuries, specifically for use on horses and companion animals. It features a patented pivot mechanism which ensures uninterrupted continuous delivery of the healing signal, even during small movements of the animal or owner.

Tunstall Healthcare Motion Sensor 869
The Motion Sensor 869 is a passive-infrared based sensor, designed to detect movement in a room and transmit a radio signal to a lifeline home unit or other Tunstall telecare enabled system.
The unit has been designed for a simple installation process, either flat against a wall or in a corner, and allows for easy battery replacement without the need to remove the sensor from the wall.
